Ali Abussaud is a seasoned investor and investment executive with a career spanning more than two decades across private capital, institutional banking, and principal investing. He holds a B.S. in Finance from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM).

At his core, Ali is an investor by instinct and by practice. Having managed his family’s investment portfolio for over twenty years, he has developed a disciplined, long-term capital allocation philosophy grounded in risk management, asymmetric returns, and value creation. His professional journey includes over a decade in corporate and institutional banking, where he held leadership roles within leading regional banks, advising large corporates and structuring complex financing solutions.

In 2014, he founded Financial Horizon Group, a diversified investment and advisory platform spanning investment management, financial and management consulting, HR advisory, and executive recruitment. That same year, he co-founded the Financial Horizon Corporate Fund, marking a transition from advisory to structured principal investing.

Driven by a deep conviction in venture capital as a transformational asset class, Ali co-founded HALA Ventures in 2018, which later evolved into HALA Capital — a CMA-regulated investment management company focused exclusively on alternative investments. Since its inception, HALA Capital has expanded its platform to include private equity, private credit, and other alternative investment strategies, reinforcing its position as a comprehensive alternative asset manager.

Ali is widely recognized as a high-conviction, hands-on venture investor with a long-term institutional mindset. He is deeply involved in portfolio strategy, governance, and scaling initiatives, partnering closely with founders and management teams to unlock durable growth. Beyond capital deployment, he actively advises and restructures private companies across multiple sectors in Saudi Arabia and has co-founded ventures in IT solutions, training, and F&B.

After several years as a corporate banker at National Commercial Bank “NCB”, where he
used to manage a diversified portfolio of more than USD 150 Million, Hussain joined his family business within Manufacturing & Construction field as a Deputy General Manager, where he managed to transform the 40-years company into its shape today. Hussain also played a crucial role to manage the company’s investment globally across different asset-classes.

Dr. Basim A. Abussaud is an Associate Professor in
the Department of Chemical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and
a seasoned equity investor with over 30 years of experience. He holds a Ph.D. from McGill University and has a robust background in chemical engineering, focusing on water treatment and nanotechnology.
Dr. Basim has been an active member of MEPEC, EMET and GDA since 2013. He is the youth program advisor in both MEPEC and GDA.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Abussaud has
9 patents related to environmental technologies and many published papers in top journals. Also, he was
a member of the student funds in KFUPM.

Hassan is a seasoned business professional and investor with extensive technical expertise in the industrial and building materials sectors. Currently at the helm of a 45-year-old family-owned enterprise, he leverages his deep-rooted knowledge and experience to drive growth and innovation.
Hassan’s investment portfolio is diverse, encompassing equity, private equity, venture capital, and real estate.

Nada graduated from the American University in Cairo (AUC) with a major in IMC and minor in Business. She was the Incubation/Acceleration Program Manager at EdVentures. Earlier, she worked at TIEC Incubator under the Egyptian MCIT. She also worked as Project Manager at Vflock where she supported the launch of Athar Accelerator and was a co-founder of an educational startup, Journey of Entrepreneurship, which has succeeded in growing internationally. Nada hosts a podcast that explores the personal side of entrepreneurship and creates content on social media about entrepreneurship. She has served as a mentor/trainer for startups in diverse industries.

With over 15 years and through different financial services industries, between SABB bank, American Express Saudi Arabia, Q-Invest and Financial Horizon Group, where he has held different positions focusing on the compliance and operation internal audit, including Compliance & AML Manager at American Express and AVP - Compliance & AML at QInvest.
Qussay holds a B.S degree in Finance from New York Institute of Technology.
